How long is a Temporary Visa good for?
There are numbers of Temporary Visas for skilled workers and the validity of those visas can vary up to 4 years.
- With the Temporary Work Visa (Subclass 400) you can stay in Australia for up to 6 months
- With the Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa (Subclass 403) you can stay in Australia for up to 4 years
- With the Training Visa (Subclass 407) you can stay in Australia for up to 2 years
- With the Temporary Activity Visa (Subclass 408) you can stay in Australia for up to 4 years
How much is a Temporary Activity Visa?
The Temporary Activity Visa, subclass 408, allows you to work in Australia to do specific types of work on a temporary basis. You can stay in Australia for the duration of the event or up to 4 years. The Department of Home Affairs visa cost of the Temporary Activity Visa is AUD $310.
The visa types that you may apply for
You may be eligible for the Temporary Work Visa if you are a highly skilled worker. Once granted, the 400 Visa will allow you to work in a highly specialised job for up to 3 months in Australia. A longer period of stay of up to 6 or 12 months can be requested in exceptional circumstances.
You may qualify for the Temporary Work Visa, subclass 403 if you are seeking to come to Australia and perform relevant work on a temporary basis. The subclass 403 Visa comprises of 6 streams: Government Agreement, Foreign Government Agency, Domestic Worker (Diplomatic or Consular), Privileges and Immunities, Seasonal Worker Program and Pacific Labour Scheme stream.
You may qualify for the Training Visa if you want to undertake occupational training activities to improve your professional skills in Australia. You can complete your training in Australia for up to 2 years with the Subclass 407 Visa.
You may qualify for the Temporary Activity Visa subclass 408 if you want to do short-term or organisation-based work or activities such as work in the entertainment industry, participating in an Australian research project or sports competition or doing full-time religious work. This visa may allow you to live and work in Australia for up to 2 years.
